Detroit has long been the center of the auto industry. MOTOR CITY well represents its unique international image. However, decades-long decline in the manufacturing industry has eroded the city’s rich history and legacy. This project is a revamping Detroit’s existing identity, MOTOR CITY, toward MOBILITY VALLEY, which is a new transportation-related business hub based on Detroit’s existing industries like auto, creative, education, and culture. MOBILITY VALLEY is a creative business zone where every discipline- IT, Technology, Design, Entertainment, and Business - interact to define a new transportation lifestyle and its market that will re-identify Detroit as a creative transportation business zone. It begins with a creation of MOBI-CUBATOR on the previous Hudson site. MOBI-CUBATOR is an interdisciplinary think tank and brain center of MOBILITY VALLEY. Three Anchor programs are Trans Design School, Trans Museum, and Start-Up Lab for IT, Tech, media, and engineering. It is supported by the transportation museum that interweaves anchor programs and where visitors can experiment and interacts with the future transportation lifestyle. Together, MOBI-CUBATOR will foster rich interactions between creative disciplines and will be the international center of the creative transportation industry that will link all Detroit’s industry to generate new market and growth.
